We build each rescue strut by hand in our shop, from proven and predictable materials. From hand-welds to high-end machining, all of our struts are built with care and inspected and tested to ensure years of performance in the field. Our tools were born through first-hand experience in the field and have been refined to suit the needs of responders through direct communication and feedback from the responders who use them.
We are currently seeking an On-Site Shop Assistant (Floater) within our manufacturing facility located in Elmira, NY. This is a full-time position.
SPECIFIC DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate equipment such as band saw, cut off saw, belt sander, drill press, disc grinder and foam press.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and specifications
- Provide general assistance around the shop
- Assist with shop loading and work kit preparation
- Packing and shipping
- Assembly
- Clean and maintain equipment as directed
- Provide assistance to shop supervisors as needed
- Inspect fabricated product
- Utilize precision measuring instruments including calipers, height gauges, and micrometers
- Follow safety protocols and maintain a clean work area
REQUIREMENTS:
- Aptitude for mechanics
- Exceptional attendance
- Familiarity with hand tools
- Exceptional hand-eye coordination
- Physically capable of standing for extended periods of time and lifting up to 70 pounds
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma required or equivalent experience in trade school certification
